Here is a radical new design for wire vertical antennas. These two designs are true self-contained verticals that are reduced size but still have high performance. My RSBEV's (Reduced Size Broad Elevation Verticals) have an unusually broad elevation pattern this improves short range communication quite dramatically for example by top hat version covers from 9.2 degrees to 60 degrees minus 3 dB that is a total range of 50.8 degrees.

The bottom hat version covers from 9.3 degrees to 64.90 degrees for a total of 55.6 degrees of operating range.

Compare that to the 80m full-size elevated ground radial vertical that only covers from 8.3 degrees to 47.3 degrees for a total range of 39.0 degrees.

But what about the gain difference well the elevated ground radial vertical over average ground has 0.19 DBi at 25 degrees at 10 degrees it is -1.63 DBi. My bottom hat version has -1.09 DBi at 30 degrees that is only 1.28 DB less than the elevated ground radial vertical. At 10 degrees it is -3.62 DBi just 1.99 DBi less.

That is only 1/3 of 1 S unit less signal on the air.

It has a top height of only 40 feet, and a horizontal space at the top of 31 ft. and 29 1/2 feet by 37 feet at the bottom.

A 80m full-size elevated ground radial vertical would be seventy-two feet high. It would require a square piece of land 128 feet by 128 feet on the ground, and a full-size elevated ground radial vertical has a limited range of take off angles. This greatly reduces its performance under 1000 miles.


Now for the icing on the cake this is a direct 50 ohm coax fed antenna, with a usable band width of 180khz.

There is always room for improvement wire verticals have been around for decades but I believe my new designs are an improvement over traditional monopole verticals.
