In the period from January 30 to February 6th,
2011 two major cities of Kazakhstan
– Astana and Almaty will host the 7th Asian Winter Games. Representatives
of about 30 Asian countries will take part in the sports event. The games will
feature competition on 11 types of winter sports which providing 65 sets of
medals to be won.
Moreover the next General Assembly of the Asian Olympic
Council will be held with participation of 45 sports movement leaders of the
Asian countries.
Almaty Amateur Radio League (ARL) is pioneering the
initiative to celebrate the games by activation of special central stations:
UN2011G (Game)
– ARL club station in Almaty – regular callsign UN0GL
UP2011AWG (Asian
Winter Games) – club station in Astana – regular callsign UP7Z
And 8 special
stations from Almaty featuring special prefix UP2011 in their callsigns.
UP2011AS (alpine skiing) – UN8GU, op. Andy
UP2011BN (biathlon)
–UN7QCC, op. Victor
UP2011CS (cross-country skiing) – UN6GAE, op. Alexander
The "7th Asian
Winter Games 2011 Award”
is established by Almaty Radio Amateur League (ARL). All licensed radio amateurs
and SWL of the world are eligible to apply for it provided they have made a QSO
or SWL with the special stations operating from the Republic of Kazakhstan
whose callsigns feature UP2011 or UN2011 prefixes both from Almaty and Astana
during conduction of the 7th Asian Winter Games.
The award has one class.
One must make 6 QSOs or SWL in order to become eligible for
the award reception.
1 QSO/SWL must be made with one of the central stations - UN2011G
(Almaty) or UP2011AWG (Astana) and 5 stations with UP2011 prefix.
QSO/SWL must be made during conduction of 7th Asian Winter Games from 29 of January 2011 (18.00
UTC) to 6 of February 2011 (18.00
UTC).
List of special stations:
UP2011AS, UP2011BN, UP2011CS, UP2011FG, UP2011HB,
UP2011IH, UP2011SJ, UP2011SO. QSOs/SWL in any operating mode on any radio amateur band are valid for
the application. Award is granted free of charge in high resolution electronic format. The
cost of printed award – 6 USD. (including postage) It’s preferred to submit the electronic application for the award. This (as well as the
copy of payment confirmation) can be dispatched

Only QSOs different stations are valid. Contacts made with the same station in different modes and different bands do not add points to the score.
Hard printed QSL cards are not required. Applicant’s log is required
showing basic information about the contacts actually made including date,
timing, band, callsign, RS/RST exchanged (in Exell or Word fail).
"Almaty
2011” Award
is established by Almaty Radio Amateur League (ARL). All licensed radio amateurs
and SWL of the world are eligible to apply for it provided they have made a QSO
or SWL with the special stations operating from the Republic of Kazakhstan
whose callsigns feature UP2011 and UN2011 prefix activated during the 7th
Asian Winter Games as well as radio amateurs of Almaty and Almaty oblast (featuring
callsign suffix G and Q). The award has three classes and Trophy (plaque). To
obtain the award one must make the following number of QSO:
During
the period from 29 of January 2011 (18.00
UTC) to 6 of February 2011 (18.00
UTC).
- 3rd
class – requires 5 points (2 QSOs with special stations required),
- 2nd
class – requires 7 points (3 QSOs with special stations required),
- 1st
class – requires 11 points (5 QSOs with special stations required),
Plaque-
requires 20 points (QSOs with 9 special stations are required),
The station from city of Astana UP2011AWG does not give points to the "ALMATY 2011 Award".
QSOs/SWL made on any radio amateur
bands and in any modes are acceptable.
3, 2 and 1 class awards are issued in high resolution electronic format
free of charge. The
cost of printed award – 6 USD. (including postage). Plaque will
be 30 USD (including postage).
