5.0 Gods CB radio...
Review 97 by : 26sb149, Joe Bloggs, Manchester,England,United Kingdom. 28-Jun-2005
The Cobra 148 GTL DX Mk2 is in my opinion the best 11mt Radio ever produced.I've owned many modded versions since 1981 and still have 2 boxed and unmolested which i got off my late uncle in 1985.I still have one in my shack with 7 band coverage and it kicks ass cos it's had a twin final mod(same as My Midland 8001 2x2sc2312s)which also is variable upto 40w.If God had a CB this would be it.Many try to copy what Dynascan did with all the Uniden boarded radios but don't quite cut the mustard(But the Magnum S-9 i got last month is probably going to take the reign soon 73s to all...
Pros: Easily Modded,Very Stable and top build quality.
Cons: None
Time owned: Over two years

The legendary GTL-DX - everyone wanted this radio, and for good reason! A quantum leap in quality from some of the cybernet-boarded pretenders and still holding it's own against the modern day clutch of "10 meter" radio's. Highly respected for the superb receiver (has ears like an elephant!) and the loud TX audio, this rig still commands a pretty price on our favorite on-line auction site! Often, the stock mic was ditched in favour of an Astatic teardrop (works very well) or a Turner Expander if being used home base. If you can find one that hasn't been messed with, buy it, you'll love it! 73
Pros: Superb TX and RX quality
Cons: No frequency readout or alpha chanel switch
Time owned: Less than 3 months - Price: Circa £100 Used
