Antennas : 40M

  • 40 meters band beverage antenna - The author describes his experience building and using a Beverage antenna for the 40-meter band. Despite encountering some challenges, the antenna offered some improvements in receiving stations compared to a 3-element inverted Vee antenna. The Beverage antenna showed a significant daytime signal-to-noise ratio improvement and received signals better than the Vee antenna. However, the front-to-back ratio was not ideal, and the transmit power seemed to affect the Beverage antenna. Overall, the author concludes that the Beverage antenna might be more suitable for locations with higher noise levels. The total cost of the antenna was around 30 Euros.

Antennas : Beverage
  • An Overview of Beverage Receiving Antennas  new - This article explores Beverage antennas, a type used for low-frequency radio reception. Despite the mystique, they are relatively simple wire antennas placed near the ground. Their key benefit is improved signal-to-noise ratio by rejecting unwanted signals. While lengthier antennas offer better reception, even shorter versions (around 200 feet) can improve DX reception compared to traditional antennas.

Operating Modes : DSP
  • Domino DF mode - DOMINO DF is a sensitive mode which, due to its incremental frequency keying and thanks to its interleaved multiple tones sets, is easy to tune and is few sensitive to interference and ionospheric effects. Domino faeture a great signal to noise ratio.

Software : Audio Recorders
  • Scanrec Scanner Recorder - Scanner Recorder (Scanrec) is a free audio recorder that is primarily designed to record speech. It has a VOX control that allows the user to save disk space when no sound is present in the signal. Since FM communications has such an effective squelch, the recorder works best with FM. HF ham bands and World Band radio have such a poor signal to noise ratio that the VOX gate on Scanrec might not be very easy to set.

  • Spectrum Analyzer Real-time FFT - Eight-channel Audio Spectrum Analyzer is a set of Real-Time Multi-Channel Gauges for investigation of data accepted from any ADC you will want or 16-, 24- and 32-bit ADC of sound card. WDM drivers support. FFT Spectrum Analysis, OscilloScope, Frequency counter, AC/DC voltmeter, Signal-to-Noise Ratio, Signal-to-Noise and Distortion, Spurious-Free Dynamic Range, Effective Number Of Bits, Total Harmonic Distortion, Inter-Modulation Distortion, Phase Shift. Special modes of dual-channel FFT spectral analysis: Separate channels spectra, Spectra of digital sum, difference, product of two signals, Spectrum of digital product of original signal and its fundamental, Spectrum of Real and Complex Transfer Function, Cross Spectrum. Standart weighing of spectra according IEC and CCIR. Oscilloscope modes (for dual-channel ADC) are: original signals, sum, difference, dependence of one channel on another, amplitude distribution of input signals.
