Samuel Morse

Samuel Finley Breese Morse was born in Boston on 27 April 1791 and started as an artist, painting portraits in New York.

He become interested in alternative communications and in particular sending electrical impulses across wires.

Samuel Morse developed an alphabet based o dots and dashes that become the main transmission method for the telegraph that he demonstrated later in 1837.
