ARRL Field Day is a hugely popular annual event held in North America, bringing together over 31,000 radio amateurs each June. We set up temporary stations in various locations, often with clubs or groups, to demonstrate the science, skill, and public service aspects of amateur radio to our communities. The core purpose of Field Day is to make as many contacts as possible with stations across North America and beyond, while practicing operating in less-than-optimal, abnormal situations, emphasizing emergency preparedness and community outreach. We achieve this by making contacts and exchanging basic information with other stations. We operate on 160m, 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m HF bands, as well as all bands 50 MHz and above, utilizing any mode that supports the Field Day exchange. The event always takes place on the fourth full weekend of June, running from Saturday afternoon UTC through Sunday evening UTC. For newcomers, it's a fantastic opportunity to experience ham radio in a fun, community-focused setting. Always check the official rules for exact categories, exchange details, and scoring information.
