Analyzing FCC amateur radio license issuance data, this resource presents monthly graphs and raw numerical statistics detailing the number of new and upgraded amateur radio licenses. The primary focus is on the impact of the Element 1 Morse Code test removal on HF privileges, specifically observing the transition rates from _Technician_ to _General_ and _Extra_ class licenses. Data is sourced from _QRZ Archives_ and processed using a custom Perl script to tally "Issued" licenses each month. The presented data, available in graphical, tabular, and raw XML formats, clearly illustrates the "spike" in General class upgrades following the rule change. It also highlights a consistent rise in new Technician licenses observed in March of both 2006 and 2007. While the dataset currently extends back to January 2006, providing a limited statistical snapshot for long-term Technician trends, it effectively captures the immediate climb in General class licenses.

Operating magnetic loop antennas requires careful consideration of RF safety, particularly regarding near-field magnetic field intensity. This resource presents calculations for magnetic field strength (H-field) at various distances from a magnetic loop, emphasizing that the H-field is significantly higher than the E-field in the near-field region due to the inductive nature of the radiating element. It provides specific formulas and examples for determining safe operating distances based on power levels and loop dimensions, crucial for compliance with RF exposure limits. The analysis compares calculated H-field values against FCC and ICNIRP maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limits for controlled and uncontrolled environments. It demonstrates that even at QRP power levels (e.g., 5W), the H-field can exceed MPE limits within a few feet of the antenna, necessitating greater separation distances than often assumed for electric field considerations. The practical application of these calculations helps amateur radio operators configure their stations to ensure personnel safety and regulatory compliance when deploying compact, high-Q magnetic loop antennas.

Facilitates preparation for FCC amateur radio licensing exams by providing free, unofficial practice tests for all three license classes: Technician, General, and Extra. Each question includes its source and a detailed explanation for the correct answer, promoting deeper understanding beyond simple memorization. Users can engage in an _exam mode_ with timed, scored simulations or print question sets for offline study, reinforcing knowledge of operating procedures, FCC regulations, and radio theory. The platform covers all topics from the official question pools, such as operating rules, remote pilot certificates, airspace classes, and weather effects on performance. It also includes specialized sections like _METARs, TAFs, and weather sources_, crucial for understanding atmospheric conditions impacting radio wave propagation. While primarily focused on amateur radio, the site also hosts practice tests for other certifications, including Part 107 Remote Pilot, various Element tests for commercial radio licenses, and numerous state-specific driving and professional exams.
