Radio Scouting K2BSA

The Radio Scouting initiative integrates amateur radio with Scouting activities, primarily through the annual Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) event, which engages over 700,000 Scouts globally each third weekend of October. This program introduces Scouts to radio technology and communication, leveraging the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association's resources. It outlines a progression from initial exposure at JOTA to more structured learning, including the Radio Merit Badge, which approximately 7,000 Scouts earn annually.

Following the introductory JOTA experience and the Radio Merit Badge, the program encourages further engagement, such as achieving Morse Code proficiency and obtaining an amateur radio license, recognized through specific uniform awards. This structured approach aims to foster sustained interest in amateur radio among youth, providing a clear pathway for skill development and participation in the ham radio community.
