Linking VHF and UHF radios and repeaters around the world using a secure Voice-Over-IP system, with no hackers!

The Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) provides an official directory and database of Australian amateur radio repeaters, detailing their locations, frequencies, and operational status. The resource includes downloadable files in PDF and CSV formats, along with a _Google Earth KMZ_ file for visualizing repeater sites across Australia, including Amateur, CB, and Marine repeaters. It also references external resources for various digital modes such as _IRLP_, _Echolink_, _D-STAR_, P25, Fusion, and DMR, providing links to their respective information sites. The WIA repeater data is cross-referenced with the _ACMA database_ to ensure accuracy, with updates typically occurring twice a year. The directory employs a color-coding system, where purple indicates repeaters carrying the WIA broadcast or callback channels, and a 'W' status denotes operational repeaters with the weekly WIA broadcast. The resource also outlines policies for removing unlicensed or non-operational repeaters from the PDF listing after specific timeframes, while retaining them in the CSV file for potential reinstatement.

Amateur radio repeaters extend communication range for mobile and remote stations by retransmitting signals on a different frequency, often for emergency communications. The resource details various repeater bands, noting that 2 meters and 70 cm are primary for activity, with 10-meter repeaters offering potential national and overseas coverage. It specifies **18 channels** on 6 meters and **31 channels** on 2 meters, along with a new 70 cm offset of _7 MHz_ adopted in 2015. The content explains how repeaters can be linked via dedicated transmitters/receivers, landlines, or Internet VoIP systems like _IRLP_ and Echolink, enabling global connections. It also describes simplex gateways for multi-band operation and the use of CTCSS subaudible tones for access control and interference mitigation. The document highlights specialized repeaters for modes beyond voice, such as SSTV and ATV, particularly on 70cm and higher bands. Operational guidelines for efficient and courteous repeater use are referenced, along with links to Australian repeater listings and band plans.

Operating in the Caribbean, the Jamaica Amateur Radio Association (JARA) provides a central hub for amateur radio enthusiasts on the island. The association details its **repeater network**, including IRLP node 7673 and ECHOLINK access, alongside information on band activity and packet radio operations. Members can access specific documents like the JARA Membership Form and the JARA Disaster Plan, while general visitors can review the full JARA Regulations and learn about the club's history. The site features a photo album and outlines various radio activities, including what constitutes a JARA Field Day. It also provides essential resources such as the Reciprocal License Form and Jamaica Amateur Radio Regulations, crucial for visiting operators. The **WINLINK Project** and Radio Voice Procedure are also covered, offering practical guidance for communications. JARA maintains affiliations with international bodies like **IARU Region II**, ARRL, and RSGB, and lists important organizations such as SATERN 14.265, Jamaica Red Cross, and the National Hurricane Center. The website also includes links to other amateur radio clubs across North America, the Caribbean, and Central and South America, fostering regional and international connections.

The Utah Amateur Radio Club (UARC), holding the callsign _W7SP_, provides a comprehensive resource for amateur radio operators, particularly within Utah. It details club activities such as Field Day, Winter Field Day, and annual social events like the Steak Fry and Christmas Dinner. The site also lists club resources including repeaters, _IRLP_ information, HF remotes, and a lending library. Information on becoming a ham, exam schedules, and a local repeater list are also available, catering to both new and experienced operators in the region. UARC hosts regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month, excluding July and August, at the University of Utah's Warnock Engineering Building, with presentations on topics like weather and _Skywarn_. The club publishes the monthly _Microvolt_ newsletter and maintains a YouTube channel for meeting playback. Additionally, UARC offers a Ham Hotline for questions and provides access to an "Elmer" list for mentorship, supporting the local amateur radio community.

The *SPACE* Amateur Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) system offers public audio transmissions from NASA Mission Control and astronauts, primarily for educational purposes. This service streams NASA public media sources, including *Artemis II* and the ISS public audio channel 2 feed, which predominantly features English communications. Astronaut activities on the ISS typically occur between 0700 UTC and 19:00 UTC, with transmissions most common during early mornings USA time, alongside special events such as launches or spacewalks. Users can connect to the live stream via EchoLink to the *SPACE* conference, via IRLP to the 0100 experimental reflector, or via Allstar to node 516221. EchoLink connections utilize the GSM CODEC, while IRLP and other connections default to uncompressed or u-law CODEC. The service notes that long periods of silence are common, and NASA audio sources can be periodically unavailable or noisy. Daily recordings of these transmissions are published at space.rfnet.link/recordings/, available as .ogg audio files for direct playback or .m3u8 playlist files for network streaming in applications like VLC. Each playlist file provides a list of timestamped audio transmissions, allowing users to review specific segments of interest.

Demonstrates the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) as a radio-based system for real-time tactical data exchange, leveraging the internet for messages, alerts, and bulletins to enhance situational awareness. It explains how APRS displays data on a map, integrating objects with GPS coordinates, weather stations, and alerts, clarifying its primary function as vehicle tracking despite broader capabilities. The document traces APRS development from the late 1980s by Bob Bruninga, WB6APR, through its evolution from Connectionless Emergency Traffic System (CETS) to Automatic Position Reporting System, and finally to Automatic Packet Reporting System with widespread GPS availability. Specific functionalities covered include real-time position and status reporting, message and bulletin exchange, weather data, DF bearings, RF connectivity plots, and local object display. Newer features like Global Email, CQSRVR, APRStt (APRS touchtone) for DTMF-based position reporting on frequencies like 146.58 MHz, and AVRS (Automatic Voice Relay System) for callsign-to-callsign linking via Echolink or IRLP, particularly with transceivers like the D710, are detailed. The resource also mentions AI-FI (APRS WIFI) for laptop integration and the use of the AX.25 protocol on 144.390 MHz in North America. It further describes the role of digipeaters and Internet Gateway stations (IGates) in transporting packets and connecting the on-air APRS network to the APRS Internet System (APRS-IS). The document explains APRS as a random ALOHA network, emphasizing channel loading considerations.
