EasyPal is a sophisticated digital Slow-Scan Television (SSTV) application that utilizes soundcard technology to encode and decode SSTV signals. Developed by the late Erik Sundstrup (VK4AES SK), this software has evolved into a versatile communication tool for amateur radio operators, extending beyond basic image transmission capabilities. EasyPal implements Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) encoding technology, enabling efficient data transmission over narrow 2.5 KHz channels on both HF and VHF frequencies with remarkable speed. The application supports multiple file formats, including jpg, pdf, txt, doc, and xls, as well as specialized forms such as ICS-213 and ICS-213 (ARES). Additionally, EasyPal offers email functionality through designated repeater stations with internet access. Its responsive development history and robust feature set have established it as a premier digital SSTV solution in the amateur radio community, though users of Windows 11 should note specific configuration requirements to ensure optimal performance.

Operating Slow Scan Television (SSTV) on Apple macOS systems requires specialized software to encode and decode images for transmission over amateur radio frequencies. MultiScan 3B was an application designed for this purpose, enabling Mac users to engage in SSTV communications. It supported various popular SSTV modes, including Robot Black & Color, Scottie, Martin, PD modes (P3, P5, P7), and AVT, catering to a wide range of operational preferences and compatibility requirements within the SSTV community. The software's capabilities extended to both transmitting and receiving pictures, offering flexibility in how images were processed. Users could select regular, narrow, QRM, and narrow+QRM modes, allowing for adaptation to different band conditions and signal environments. This feature was particularly useful for mitigating interference and optimizing image quality during transmissions on HF bands. MultiScan 3B was built to run on Mac OS X 10.6 and later versions, providing a dedicated solution for Mac users interested in this classic digital mode. Its support for multiple modes and operational settings made it a versatile tool for SSTV enthusiasts.

HAMDRM pictures received on 80 meters band at 3733 KHz

To get this award one should receive and decode at least one picture in the session. The quality of the received image does not have to be perfect, but good enough to be able to identify. The picture does not have to be full. It is acceptable to send just some part of the picture as well.

Operating Slow Scan Television (SSTV) often requires specialized software to encode and decode images for transmission over amateur radio frequencies. The _MMSSTV_YONIQ_ project provides an updated iteration of the widely used _MMSSTV_ software, originally developed by JE3HHT, incorporating modern functionalities requested by the SSTV community. This version integrates the _Omni-Rig_ system for seamless transceiver control, supports both Spanish and English interfaces, and enables direct data downloads from QRZ.com, streamlining logging and contact management for operators. The software also includes practical enhancements such as frequency memory storage, compatibility with various digital logbooks, and a visual indicator for image transmission and reception progress. Significant improvements have been made to image reception settings, allowing for more effective decoding even on systems with limited PC resources, though it can be configured for higher performance on modern machines. The development involved new code and modifications to existing source code, released under a GNU license. Installation instructions are provided, noting that the initial setup defaults to Spanish but can be easily switched to English. The project emphasizes its role as a continuation of JE3HHT's original work, aiming to keep SSTV operations current with 21st-century amateur radio practices. Support for new features is available through the MMSSTV forum on Groups.io.

Open Signal, a software application for Windows 10/11 and 64-bit Linux, facilitates the transmission of color pictures, photo files, and text over HF and VHF amateur radio bands. It integrates its own error-corrected OFDM digital picture mode, delivering pixel-exact images in under a minute, with classic analog SSTV across six families: Martin, Scottie, Robot, Wraase, PD, and MMSSTV's MP/MR, featuring automatic VIS mode detection on receive. The application offers four distinct sending methods, including byte-exact JPEG transfer, a hybrid mode utilizing internet for full quality with a short RF link, and its proprietary digital waveform. This self-contained executable eliminates the need for external software like FLDIGI, Hamlib, or virtual audio cables, simplifying setup. It includes a self-filling logbook that integrates with Wavelog/Cloudlog, eQSL, and provides UDP ADIF broadcast. Built-in spotting features include PSK Reporter, DX cluster announcements, and APRS-IS position beacons. The receive-only version is permanently free, while a full license, enabling transmit capabilities and access to the live network, is available for an annual or lifetime fee. The software is actively maintained, unlike EasyPal, which has not seen updates since 2014.

Fram2, the first human spaceflight in polar orbit, launches spring 2025 aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9. Inspired by the polar exploration ship Fram, the mission highlights innovation and exploration. Four astronauts from Europe and Australia will orbit Earth for 3–5 days, including ham radio operator Rabea Rogge, who will transmit SSTV images for an educational competition. Open to students aged 16–25, the contest challenges teams to identify polar-related sites. Fram2 collaborates with ARISS to inspire STEAM learning through space communications.

Over 20 news items and announcements are regularly featured on KFPortal, a Polish-language amateur radio community platform. It serves as a central hub for both licensed operators and shortwave listeners, providing a robust platform for discussion through its forums, a marketplace for equipment classifieds, and a source for current radio news. The site also hosts a searchable library of manuals, which is particularly useful for troubleshooting older gear, alongside various operator tools and Morse code training resources. Beyond its core community features, KFPortal offers a dual-language interface, supporting both Polish and English users. This accessibility broadens its reach, allowing a wider audience to engage with content, including updates from organizations like _AMSAT_ concerning SSTV transmissions from the _International Space Station_ and coordination efforts for projects such as UNNE-1B. The portal regularly features news items, such as the recognition of Murray Niman with the Roy Stevens Memorial Trophy and reports from significant events like the 27th IARU Region 1 Conference in Vienna.
