The IndyScan website functions as a personal blog, documenting the author's experiences across various aspects of daily life, including travel, culinary adventures, and media consumption. Content frequently details personal trips, dining experiences in Indiana and other locations, and reviews of books, television shows, and products. The site also includes reflections on local events and personal purchases, providing a snapshot of the author's interests and activities. While the site's primary focus is personal narrative, it occasionally touches upon amateur radio, such as mentions of operating during a trip to Brookville, Indiana, or capturing a weather fax via shortwave radio. These ham radio-related entries are integrated within broader lifestyle updates, offering a glimpse into the author's engagement with the hobby rather than providing technical guides or detailed operational information. The resource serves as a personal journal, not a dedicated technical reference for amateur radio.

Several bash scripts are provided to automate common amateur radio tasks on Linux and FreeBSD systems, addressing the need for quick access to specific data without navigating web interfaces. These utilities include `call` for fetching US callsign details from callook.info, `qth` for obtaining address information for US and Canadian callsigns, and `grid` for determining grid squares based on license addresses. Each script is designed for command-line execution, allowing for single lookups or interactive sessions, and emphasizes a KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) programming philosophy. Another script, `au_kp.sh`, is tailored for weak signal VHF operators, fetching and displaying the NOAA 30-minute Aurora forecast and GFZ Space Weather Kp index data. This script generates static images, requiring re-execution for updates, and is intended to be run as a clickable desktop object for real-time space weather monitoring. It helps operators track propagation conditions, especially during solar cycle peaks. Beyond bash scripts, the resource offers a PHP/web page `fortune` implementation, including Henrik Aasted Sorensen's PHP script, sample HTML/CSS, and a HOWTO guide for creating fortune files. W3DHJ provides several amateur radio-themed fortune files, such as "Ham Humor & Wisdom" with 354 entries and "VHF Rover Humor & Wisdom" with 223 entries, along with other general humor and wisdom collections. These fortune files are designed with embedded HTML for web page display and are refreshed monthly, offering a total of 21,400 entries.

Demonstrates the complete process of setting up a _HamClock_ for an amateur radio shack, utilizing a Raspberry Pi and the HamClock 4.21 software. The guide meticulously covers hardware recommendations, including specific Raspberry Pi models like the Pi 4, suitable SD cards, power supplies, and display options. It provides step-by-step instructions for preparing the SD card with Raspberry Pi OS, performing initial system updates, and executing the HamClock installation script. Detailed configuration steps are outlined for HamClock's seven setup pages, addressing callsign, grid square, DX Cluster settings (e.g., `dxspider.co.uk` port **7300**), map centering, and crucial features like automatic space weather map rotation and auto-upgrades. The resource further explains how to customize HamClock's display panels, such as replacing default panels with a large DX Cluster display or a dedicated Space Weather panel. It illustrates configuring the Live Spots panel to show _PSKReporter_ data, filtering spots by grid square and time (e.g., **15 minutes**), and selecting specific bands for monitoring. The author, G6NHU, shares personal preferences for map types, recommending the DRAP style with Robinson projection for optimal amateur radio utility. Additionally, the guide provides specific DX Cluster filtering commands to manage spot overload, including methods to exclude data modes like FT8 and FT4, ensuring a cleaner display of relevant DX activity.

Operates as a universal client for Software Defined Radios, SDRoxide provides a robust platform for amateur radio operators to engage in diverse modes and activities. It integrates a **GPU panadapter** for real-time spectrum visualization, dual VFOs for flexible tuning, and advanced neural noise reduction to enhance weak-signal reception. The software supports a comprehensive suite of digital modes, including FT8, JS8, RTTY, and PSK, alongside built-in skimmers for automated signal detection. Its capabilities extend to Winlink radio email, 868 MHz ISM sensor decoding, and hands-free satellite operation with continuous Doppler correction and Hamlib rotator tracking. The client offers native drivers for popular SDR hardware like RTL-SDR, RX-888, and HackRF One, covering a wide frequency range from 1 MHz to 6 GHz. It also interfaces with CAT-controlled transceivers via Hamlib and Flrig, allowing a second SDR to function as a panadapter. Network dongles, SpyServer, KiwiSDR, and OpenHPSDR Ethernet SDRs are also supported, providing flexibility for remote and local operations. Beyond core radio functions, SDRoxide incorporates a live 3D space-weather globe with aurora and lightning displays, real-time satellite tracking with TLE updates, and a measured propagation heat map. It includes a full-featured logbook with DX cluster spots, award tracking for **DXCC** and WAS, and direct QSL upload integration with services like eQSL and Club Log, streamlining post-QSO management.

The Waterway Net, sponsored by the Waterway Radio and Cruising Club, is dedicated to enhancing amateur radio communications for recreational boaters. Meeting daily at 0745 ET on 7.268 MHz LSB, the net focuses on safety and weather updates, providing a vital link for live-aboards and cruising boats to stay connected with families and friends. Position Reports and Float Plans are essential components that ensure safety for offshore passage makers. Established in the early sixties, the Waterway Net is one of the longest-running nets in amateur radio history. Open to all amateur radio operators with a General class license or higher, it encourages participation without requiring WRCC membership. Newcomers are advised to listen initially to understand net procedures before checking in. In emergencies, FCC regulations allow anyone, licensed or not, to use any frequency to call for help, with the 20-meter frequency of 14.300 MHz available for emergency assistance approximately eighteen hours a day.

The Hurricane Watch Net (HWN) is an amateur radio organization dedicated to serving the National Hurricane Center and the public since 1965. It plays a crucial role in disseminating real-time tropical weather information for the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific regions. The HWN operates during hurricane events, providing updates and facilitating communication among amateur radio operators and emergency services. This network is essential for ensuring that communities are informed and prepared for severe weather conditions. In addition to its operational role, the HWN offers educational resources and outreach programs aimed at enhancing public awareness about hurricane preparedness. This includes providing access to tracking maps, storm surge information, and safety guidelines. The HWN encourages amateur radio operators to participate in its activities, fostering a spirit of community and collaboration in the face of natural disasters. By subscribing to their email updates, individuals can stay informed about active storms and receive vital safety information.
