Amateur Radio Contest Stations and Teams
Find links to websites of prominent ham radio contest stations, clubs, and multi-operator teams worldwide.
Amateur radio contesting involves competitive operation to contact as many stations as possible within defined rules and timeframes. A dedicated contest station is typically optimized for this specific activity, often featuring specialized antenna arrays, high-power amplifiers, and multiple operating positions to maximize efficiency and score. These stations are frequently developed and maintained by clubs or groups of operators, focusing on robust infrastructure to withstand demanding operational schedules and achieve competitive results in major events like CQ WW DX Contest or IARU HF Championship.
Resources in this category provide insights into the design, construction, and operational strategies of these specialized facilities. They often detail antenna systems, shack layouts, and the technical configurations used for single operator, multi-single, or multi-multi categories. Additionally, some resources offer access to callsign databases or operational logs, which are valuable for contesters preparing for events or analyzing past performance. Such information is crucial for understanding the technical and logistical requirements for successful participation in competitive amateur radio.

The Super Check Partial database files provide a list of callsigns used by active contesters. The data comes from Cabrillo logs contributed by contesters themselves. Contributed logs from the past 24 months are used to create the database. These logs are combined and filtered so that they result in a fairly good (but not perfect) list. The files do not contain any QSO data, such as state, CQ zone, Maidenhead Grid Locator, etc. The dta files can be used with CT, WriteLog, TRlog, SD, N1MM Logger, NA, Win-Test, and others

This blog chronicles over a decade of portable HF contesting from rural Ireland (2008–2019) by Olivier, operating under callsigns EI/ON4EI, EI8GQB, EI1A, and EI7T. Using only green energy from a caravan, he achieved top-tier results in major international contests—including 1st World in the 2018 IARU HF Championship (SSB LP) and multiple 1st-place finishes in CQ WW and CQ WPX SSB Europe. Operating in the demanding Single Operator All Band Low Power and SO2R categories, he deployed up to five antennas across five bands, often in remote or emergency-style conditions. The narrative blends technical detail, fieldcraft, and personal reflection, documenting triumphs, setbacks (including carbon monoxide poisoning), and the logistical challenges of sustainable portable operation—culminating in his decision to transition to team-based contesting and future DXpeditions.
