Presents the Utah Valley Amateur Radio Club (UVARC), K7UVA, detailing its organizational structure and activities within the amateur radio community. The club operates repeaters on 2 meters and 70 centimeters, providing local communication infrastructure for its members. UVARC engages in various ham radio activities, including field operations, technical discussions, and support for emergency communications. The club's website provides information on meeting schedules, upcoming events like _Field Day_ and _Winter Field Day_, and resources for new and experienced hams. It also lists contact information for club officers and details about their _ARRL_ affiliation, emphasizing their role in promoting amateur radio education and public service in the Utah Valley area.

This page show a list of repeaters in north america transmitting from 28 MHz to 29 MHz. The most of them are in the 29.620 to 29.700 frequency range. Some repeaters may be active and on the air while others may not

Details the construction of a Copper Cactus Dual-Band Super J-Pole Antenna, providing specific measurements for 1/2-inch copper tubing sections, including a 57-1/2-inch long section and a 19-inch short section, along with a 42-inch piece of 3/16-inch or 1/4-inch soft copper tubing for the matching stub. It covers soldering techniques for copper fittings, drilling an SO-239 panel mount coaxial fitting, and securing feed point connections with stainless steel adjustable band clamps. The resource specifies materials such as Schedule M 1/2-inch copper tubing, various copper fittings, a hardwood dowel or Fiberglas rod for insulation, and #14 stranded copper wire for the feed point. The guide simplifies the J-pole feed point by using an SO-239 fitting with an elongated mounting hole and band clamps, noting an optimal feed point distance of approximately 3 inches above the crossbar for proper impedance matching. It recommends a 4-turn coax choke, 5 inches in diameter, placed within 3 to 4 inches of the feed point for 2-meter operation to mitigate RF on the feedline. The project emphasizes weather sealing with silicon or butyl rubber compound and clear lacquer for durability and appearance.

Operating amateur radio repeaters involves understanding frequency offsets, CTCSS tones, and the basic signal flow through a repeater system. This resource details the fundamental concepts of repeater operation, including the distinction between input and output frequencies, the role of **CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System)** for access, and the typical frequency bands utilized for local communication. It clarifies terms such as "simplex" versus "duplex" operation and provides a diagram illustrating the signal path from a handheld transceiver to a repeater and back to another station, emphasizing the range extension repeaters offer. The article further explains practical aspects like identifying a repeater's offset (e.g., +600 kHz for 2-meter band) and the necessity of programming the correct tone. It compares the operational benefits of using repeaters for local communication over direct simplex contacts, highlighting how repeaters overcome line-of-sight limitations. The content is structured to assist new licensees in confidently making their first repeater contacts, providing a foundational understanding of how these critical infrastructure components facilitate wider area coverage for VHF/UHF amateur radio.

Fully functional weathervane conceals an efficient 2- meter base-station antenna. Your Neighbors and HOA won’t know it’s there and they will love the rooster-vane. The Rooster-Tenna is a covert 2-meter ham radio antenna disguised as a functional weathervane, ensuring seamless integration into residential environments. This improved version features a wide-spaced parallel-fed folded dipole in a compact skeleton slot design. Constructed from aluminum tubing and acrylic supports, it offers omnidirectional, vertically polarized performance suitable for repeater and satellite use. Easy to mount and tune, it achieves a low SWR across the 2m band. With 3D-printable parts available, the Rooster-Tenna blends practicality with stealth, making it an ideal solution for HOA-restricted areas

Over 200 distinct 2-meter band amateur radio repeaters are cataloged for Australia, providing essential operational data for VHF communication. Each entry specifies the repeater's output frequency, often including the input tone (e.g., **91.5 Hz** or **123.0 Hz** CTCSS) and the repeater's callsign (e.g., _VK2RSC_, _VK3RHF_). Locations are precisely noted, frequently referencing specific towns, mountains, or geographical features such as "Kinglake, Kangaroo Ground" or "Adaminaby, Mars Hill." The resource also indicates various digital modes and linking capabilities where applicable, such as "FMEchoLinkFusionWIRES-X" or "DMR," alongside standard FM operation. This detailed listing facilitates local and regional VHF communication, enabling hams to program their transceivers accurately for repeater access. The data is presented in a clear, tabular format, making it straightforward to identify repeaters by frequency and location.

Demonstrates the construction of a portable 2-meter repeater system utilizing a **Yaesu DR-1X** transceiver, configured for both analog FM and C4FM digital voice operation. The design emphasizes portability, robustness, and effective thermal management, incorporating a "wind tunnel" airflow system with a fan to maintain transmit module temperatures at 38 degrees Celsius during continuous operation. The system integrates a diplexer, control head, and is housed in a compact, lightweight case weighing under 8kg, designed for single-person deployment. Covers practical considerations for field deployment, including power sources, antenna types, and the overall system architecture for public service events and emergency preparedness. The resource details the modular "wrap around" construction, showing how components like thermal switches for fan control and Anderson Powerpole connectors are integrated. It highlights the system's ability to provide reliable communications support for club activities and emergency communications.

Operating an **Echolink** gateway on the 4-meter band presents unique opportunities for extending VHF communications, as demonstrated by the EI4FMG node. Situated at Fieldstown, Monasterboice, this gateway provides coverage across a significant portion of Ireland's east coast, leveraging a Tait TM8100 radio and an EI4JR Echolink interface logic. My own experience with similar setups confirms the importance of strategic site selection for maximizing reach, particularly with a 122-meter elevation above sea level. Access to the EI4FMG gateway, identified by node 57006, requires a **CTCSS** tone of 88.5 Hz, a standard practice for managing access and minimizing interference on shared frequencies. The system transmits with 15 watts of power and utilizes a Sigma CAT70 @5MAGL antenna, a configuration well-suited for regional VHF coverage. The gateway also features an auto-ID every 8 minutes, ensuring compliance and clear station identification. Users can interact with the gateway using various DTMF commands, allowing for connections to specific nodes, random repeater/link or conference nodes, and managing disconnections. These functionalities streamline the process of linking into the broader Echolink network, enabling local VHF operators to communicate globally through the internet backbone.
