This resource documents numerous QRP (low power) portable amateur radio operations conducted by W1PID, Jim Cluett, primarily from various outdoor locations in New Hampshire. The content includes detailed accounts, photographs, and operational specifics for over 350 individual "QRP Adventures," often involving hiking, biking, or kayaking to remote sites. Each entry typically highlights the location, date, bands and modes used (frequently CW on HF), and notable DX contacts made with minimal power, sometimes as low as 200mW WSPR. The site serves as a chronicle of practical QRP field operation, demonstrating successful DXing and contesting from challenging environments. It showcases diverse operating scenarios, from mountaintops like Cannon Mountain and Knox Mountain to lakeshores, riverbanks, and even marine mobile operations. The documented contacts span numerous DXCC entities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, providing empirical evidence of QRP's efficacy in varied propagation conditions and terrains. Specific events like the Worked All Germany contest, 13 Colonies Event, and CWT sprints are also featured.

Operating marine mobile with antennas for 15-17-20 meters band.

Operating an amateur radio station effectively requires reliable coaxial cable to minimize signal loss between the transceiver and antenna. SIVA Cavi, an Italian manufacturer, produces a range of coaxial cables, including specific 50 Ohm low-loss types suitable for amateur radio applications. Their product line features cables like **RG 58 SHF1**, **RG 213 SHF1**, and **RF 400 SHF1**, which are commonly deployed in HF and VHF/UHF setups. The company also offers specialized cables such as the **HF 214 UF Ultraflex**, a high-performance broadband low-loss 50 Ohm cable designed for flexibility and reduced attenuation across various amateur bands. These cables are engineered with solid or foam dielectric materials, impacting their electrical characteristics and suitability for different power levels and frequency ranges. For instance, foam dielectric cables often exhibit lower loss at higher frequencies, a critical factor for VHF/UHF operations. Beyond amateur radio, SIVA Cavi manufactures cables for digital video broadcast, offshore marine use, and fire detecting systems, demonstrating a broad engineering capability in coaxial cable technology.

This **PDF report** documents a _maritime mobile_ DXpedition operating from the _Southern Ocean_ near Antarctica, detailing antenna deployment strategies on a sailing vessel. It addresses power management systems for remote operations and propagation characteristics specific to polar regions on **20m and 40m** bands. Operational strategies include managing high-density pileups using split frequency operation and maintaining signal integrity during periods of high aurora activity. Equipment considerations cover specific transceiver models like the Icom IC-7300, antenna types optimized for marine vessel installation, and battery power systems for extended periods without shore power. The resource also examines the use of satellite communication for real-time log uploads and QSL confirmation from remote locations, and discusses mitigating signal degradation from ice accumulation on antennas. SWLTools, an iOS application for iPhone and iPad running iOS 17+, provides real-time decoding of various digital modes. It automatically locks onto CW tones, measures sending speed, and collects callsigns, distinguishing valid entries from misreads for a reliable log. For RTTY and SITOR-B, the app allows users to set shift and speed, then automatically tunes to the two tones for text reception, supporting marine bulletins, press agencies, and NAVTEX. The application also decodes WEFAX, building charts line by line for direct saving to the photo library, and processes ACARS aircraft messages, including CRC checks for data integrity and mapping of position reports. Beyond decoding, SWLTools integrates a GPU-accelerated FFT spectrum analyzer, a scrolling waterfall display with frequency cursors, and an adjustable FIR bandpass filter to isolate signals. It supports IQ signal analysis from receivers via two-channel audio interfaces, correcting mirror images. Flexible audio input options include the built-in microphone, USB audio dongles, and Bluetooth sources, with diagnostics for audio routing and buffer status. The app records audio, plays it back, and converts recordings into shareable videos, while decoded texts and charts are also savable and shareable, with all timestamps in UTC.
