SM0DTK's 40-meter Moxon antenna project details the construction and deployment of a wire Moxon rectangle, specifically dimensioned for the 7 MHz band. The resource outlines the use of a _Moxon Rectangle Generator_ for calculating wire lengths and the fabrication of plexiglass supports for corners and the feeding point. It describes the practical challenges of elevating the antenna to approximately **14 meters** using an aluminum tube and fiberglass rod, emphasizing the adjustment process for achieving the correct rectangular shape. The article presents comparative results against a 60-meter long-wire and a full-size 40-meter ground plane antenna. The Moxon demonstrated significant directional gain towards the west, facilitating DX contacts in the Caribbean with **100 watts**, while simultaneously reducing QRM from strong eastern European stations. The SWR was reported as perfect without the need for an antenna tuner, validating the design's effectiveness for targeted signal enhancement and interference mitigation.

F6EZX presents a detailed account of constructing a compact, multi-band _Levy antenna_ for portable holiday operations, specifically addressing issues with local QRM from a previous _Deltaloop_ setup. The article outlines the design criteria, including multi-band operation on 40m, 30m, 17m, 15m, 12m, and 10m, a symmetrical configuration to reduce interference, and a low take-off angle for DX. Construction involves 2x 10.3m radiating elements and a 15.3m open-wire feeder (ladder line) with 7cm spacing, made from 1.5mm2 copper wire and foam pipe insulation spacers. Theoretical calculations, referencing F9HJ's "_Les antennes Levy_" book, guide the determination of element lengths and feeder impedance characteristics, aiming for a good match across bands with a commercial antenna tuner. Initial field tests with the _VCI Vectronics VC300DLP_ tuner showed a 1:1 SWR from 80m to 10m, with some difficulty on 17m. The antenna, mounted as a 45-degree slopper with the high point at 12m, successfully facilitated DX contacts to South America, particularly Chile and Argentina, suggesting a lower take-off angle compared to the previous Deltaloop which favored Brazil. The Levy antenna significantly reduced TVI/RFI, attributed to its improved symmetry and greater distance from the QRA. While signal reports on 15m and 20m were 1-2 S-points lower than the Deltaloop, its performance on 40m and 30m was comparable, fulfilling the design goals for a portable, low-cost, multi-band solution.

Demonstrates the construction of a double bazooka antenna, detailing its historical development from MIT radar applications in the 1940s to amateur radio use in the 1950s. It explains the antenna's operation as a 1/2 lambda coaxial section with open-ended stubs, acting as a shortened quarter-wave stub at resonance, presenting high impedance. The resource provides formulas for calculating total length (LT = 140/Freq) and coaxial length (LC = 99/Freq) for RG58 CU, along with specific instructions for cutting and soldering components, including a central insulator and end wires. Compares the double bazooka to a standard dipole, highlighting its 98% efficiency and twice the bandwidth. It claims a +3.6dB gain over a dipole (dipole gain 2.15dB) and a 6dB reduction in reception noise due to its closed design, which also minimizes harmonics and TVI. The antenna handles over 1.5kW (2kW PEP) without performance degradation and is effective for DX with a low radiation angle, especially when configured as an inverted V between 90° and 120° with ends 2 meters above ground. It eliminates the need for a balun and can be fed directly with 50-ohm coaxial cable.

For over 20 years, bhi Ltd has specialized in digital signal processing (DSP) technology to mitigate noise and interference across various radio channels. Their product line, including the _ParaPro EQ20 Audio DSP_ units, focuses on enhancing receive audio quality, even for operators without significant noise issues, by offering precise parametric equalization to suit individual hearing preferences. The core offerings are noise-cancelling speakers and in-line modules, specifically engineered for amateur radio applications, but also adapted for commercial, PMR, and marine radio systems. The company provides audio demonstrations, such as a 20m SSB example and a 14MHz band filter comparison, allowing users to hear the effectiveness of their DSP units against common QRM sources like plasma TV interference or diesel engine noise. Located in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, UK, bhi Ltd emphasizes clear voice communications, aiming to remove unwanted noise and leave only intelligible speech.

Optimizing weak signal reception on the HF bands, particularly in the presence of strong local QRM, often necessitates specialized receiving antenna systems. This resource details the _HI-Z Antennas_ product line, focusing on phased vertical arrays designed for superior noise rejection and directivity. It covers components such as the 4-Square and 8-Element array controllers, which allow for rapid switching of receive patterns, and dedicated low-noise preamplifiers to improve system sensitivity. The site also presents various bandpass filters, crucial for mitigating out-of-band interference and enhancing the dynamic range of the receiver. The HI-Z systems are engineered to provide significant front-to-back and side rejection, often yielding **20-30 dB** of attenuation to unwanted signals, which is critical for DXing and contesting. Users can achieve a notable reduction in local noise, allowing for the discernment of signals that would otherwise be buried. The array controllers facilitate quick pattern changes, enabling operators to null out interference or peak weak signals from distant stations, effectively extending the reach of their receive capabilities by improving the signal-to-noise ratio.

It is not always possible to tackle the sources of local QRM. What remains is trying to reduce the noise level by means of your antenna system. Learn how to reduce QRM and understand how cancell noises.
