Radioteletype, commonly known as RTTY, represents a foundational digital mode in amateur radio, enabling text-based communication over radio waves. This mode predates many modern digital techniques, relying on frequency shift keying (FSK) to transmit characters. RTTY contests are a significant aspect of the amateur radio contesting scene, challenging operators to make as many contacts as possible within specified timeframes, often across various bands and geographical zones. These events test both technical proficiency in operating digital modes and strategic planning in contest participation.
This section compiles resources dedicated to the rules and guidelines governing RTTY contests. Operators can find detailed stipulations for various international and regional competitions, including information on scoring, exchange formats, and eligibility criteria. Such resources are essential for understanding the specific requirements of each event, ensuring fair play, and maximizing competitive performance. They serve as authoritative references for participants preparing for or reviewing their engagement in digital mode contesting, providing the framework for structured amateur radio activity.
