John Lemay’s (G4ZTR) review of the Yaesu FT-847 offers a practical look at this all-mode transceiver, spanning 160m to 70cm, including 4m. While it falls short in dynamic range and sensitivity, its "shack-in-a-box" design shines for VHF DXing and multi-band use. Lemay shares hands-on tweaks, like calibrating 70cm with beacons and integrating footswitches for SSB and CW. The TX Inhibit feature simplifies sequencing with external gear. Despite minor flaws, the FT-847’s versatility and mod-friendly nature make it a solid pick for amateur radio enthusiasts craving flexibility.

"The QRP Adventures of VE3FI" is a captivating blog that chronicles the amateur radio experiences of Bill, VE3FI, over two decades. Holding Canadian Basic, 5-word CW, and Advanced licenses, Bill's main interests include DXing and QRP operations. The blog offers detailed accounts of his portable activations, such as a recent outing in March 2025, where he achieved impressive DX contacts on the 10-meter band using just 8 watts and a Hamstick antenna. Bill's engaging storytelling and practical insights make this blog a valuable resource for both seasoned and aspiring amateur radio enthusiasts.

The blog and website of English amateur radio operator G0RIF, located near Lichfield in central England. Favourite aspects of the hobby are DXing, RTTY, portable operating and experimenting with wire antennas.

EiBi-Tuner-v2 is an open-source macOS application designed to control amateur radio transceivers via the FLRIG interface, leveraging the EiBi-list for frequency management. This software provides a graphical user interface that emulates an older radio, allowing operators to tune their rigs based on the extensive EiBi database of broadcast stations and utility frequencies. The application is specifically compiled for macOS, offering a native experience for users of Apple's desktop operating system. The software's primary function is to simplify frequency selection and rig control by integrating the EiBi-list, which contains thousands of known frequencies, with FLRIG's robust transceiver control capabilities. This integration allows for rapid QSY to documented frequencies, potentially enhancing DXing and SWL activities by providing quick access to a vast array of signals. The open-source nature permits community contributions and modifications, ensuring adaptability and ongoing development for specific amateur radio operational needs.

Accessing the official Estonian amateur radio call sign database is facilitated through this resource, which offers a direct search utility for **ERAU** registered licensees. Users can input a call sign to retrieve associated public information, ensuring accurate identification of Estonian stations. The system directly queries the national amateur radio society's records, providing real-time data on active **ES-prefix** operators. This utility is distinct from global callbook services, focusing exclusively on Estonian amateur radio operators. It serves as a primary source for verifying call sign authenticity and operator details within the country's regulatory framework. The interface is streamlined for quick lookups, making it efficient for DXers and contesters targeting Estonian entities. The resource's direct integration with the Estonian Radio Amateurs Union (ERAU) database ensures the presented information is current and authoritative, reflecting the latest licensing status and operator details for the amateur radio community.

Optimizing on-air audio for SSB, DXing, and contesting operations is addressed through a range of specialized audio processing equipment. The offerings include multi-band equalizers, specifically 5-band, 8-band, 10-band, and 12-band units, some integrated with features such as compressors, echo effects, noise gates, and phase rotation capabilities. These devices are engineered to interface with common amateur radio transceivers, with explicit compatibility noted for models like the Yaesu FT-DX10, FT-DX101D, FT-1000MP, FT-DX5000, Collins HF-380, and Flex 6300, alongside analog S/P meters for Icom rigs. The product line focuses on enhancing microphone audio characteristics, supporting XLR dynamic microphones for improved signal clarity and presence. The manufacturer, DB6QW Electronics, emphasizes direct support and a 100% manufacturer's warranty, reflecting confidence in product quality and operational reliability. This resource details specific audio processing tools designed to refine the transmitted audio signal, providing operators with granular control over their voice characteristics for competitive and casual amateur radio communications.

The LY4A DX Reminder application monitors five distinct DX cluster sources—DXScape, DXSummit, DXHeat, PSK Reporter, and Reverse Beacon—to alert amateur radio operators when a specific call sign appears. It supports a wide range of bands from 160 meters to 70 centimeters, including 60m, 6m, 2m, and 70cm, accommodating **CW**, SSB, FT8, FT4, and RTTY modes. The software operates in the background, checking clusters at user-defined intervals of 1, 5, 10, or 30 minutes, and persists across device restarts. Alarm functionality is robust, activating even if the mobile device is silenced, by utilizing the alarm channel and illuminating the locked screen. On desktop platforms, notifications remain active in the system tray. Users can directly manage alarms—stopping, snoozing, or deleting them—from the notification interface, enhancing operational flexibility during DX pursuits. Available in 15 languages, including English, Italian, German, and Spanish, the application is provided free of charge and without advertisements. It offers optional donation support for continued development. Installation instructions are detailed for Android, Windows 10/11 (64-bit), and macOS 12+, addressing common system security prompts for unsigned applications.

Spothole aggregates real-time amateur radio spots from various sources, including traditional **DX clusters** and specialized outdoor activity programs like POTA and SOTA. The platform provides a highly customizable web interface where users can configure display options such as DX and DE continents, local time, and a 'ping' notification for new spots. Users can also adjust the number of spots displayed and select from several UI color schemes, including PSK Reporter and Ham Rainbow. The tool integrates with external callbook services like QRZ.com and HamQTH, allowing users to remember login credentials for seamless data reloading. A distinctive feature is the ability to input a personal grid square and manage lists of 'worked' and 'wanted' callsigns. Wanted callsigns, entered as space- or comma-separated lists, receive a gold highlight when a matching DX callsign appears in the spot feed, aiding in targeted DXing efforts. Beyond the interactive web interface, Spothole offers a universal JSON **API**, enabling developers to build custom applications leveraging its aggregated spotting data.

The Bahamas Amateur Radio Society (C6ARS) serves as the primary amateur radio club for the Bahamian archipelago, providing a hub for operators interested in DXing, portable operations, and emergency communications. The society actively participates in Parks on the Air (POTA) activations monthly, deploying portable stations to various parks and protected areas to put The Bahamas on the air for global hunters. Additionally, C6ARS engages in the annual ARRL Field Day, setting up off-grid stations powered by batteries, solar, and generators to practice emergency preparedness and operating skills. C6ARS also offers licensing assistance and mentorship for new operators, highlighting amateur radio's role as a STEM education platform through practical applications in physics, electronics, mathematics, and computing. The club emphasizes resilient emergency communication, particularly crucial for an island nation in the hurricane belt, demonstrating how trained operators can maintain vital communication links when conventional infrastructure fails. Their regular off-grid activations serve as rehearsals, ensuring readiness for disaster response.
