Two live MP3 audio streams provide real-time reception of meteor forward scatter signals, allowing listeners to hear radar echoes from meteoroid disintegration. The system operates on **67.25 MHz**, utilizing an Icom PCR-1000 receiver with a 6-element Yagi antenna pointed skyward. This setup detects reflections from ionized meteor trails created at altitudes of 80 to 130 km, using distant Channel 4 TV transmitters in the southeastern USA as signal sources. Scientists Rob Suggs, Bill Cooke, and Jeff Anderson of the Marshall Space Flight Center Engineering Directorate developed this experimental radar to monitor near-Earth meteoroid activity. A typical day yields about one meteor ping per minute, with significantly higher rates during meteor showers. The optimal listening period is generally around dawn, from 0800 to 1400 UT, due to Earth's orbital motion encountering more space dust on the dawn side. The system's **CW demodulator** processes the 67.250 MHz signal, presenting it at approximately 700 Hz with a 3 kHz bandwidth and AGC off, inverting the passband for Doppler shift analysis.

It details FCC Rules part 97.203 governing beacon stations, including license requirements, power limits (under 100 watts), and the specified band segment of 28.200-28.300 MHz for U.S. operations. The content highlights the diversity in beacon construction, from converted CB radios to home-brew QRP transmitters, and discusses the robust operating conditions these 24/7 stations endure. The resource presents several case studies of active 10-meter beacon operators like Ron Anderson KA0PSE/B, Domenic Bianco KC9GNK/B, and Bill Hays WJ5O/B, detailing their equipment, antenna setups, and typical signal report volumes. It also introduces the NCDXF/IARU International Beacon Project, which features 18 synchronized beacons worldwide transmitting on 28.200 MHz at varying power levels (100W, 10W, 1W, 100mW) to facilitate propagation testing. The article also covers the PropNet Project utilizing PSK31 on 28.131 MHz and the 250 Synchronized Propagation Beacon Project on 28.250 MHz. Practical advice for monitoring includes using the RST reporting method, understanding the impact of the solar cycle on 10-meter propagation, and tips for setting up a personal beacon, such as frequency selection and power output considerations. The IY4M Guglielmo Marconi Memorial Beacon Robot on 28.195 MHz is also mentioned for its automatic QSO mode. The article concludes with a list of other resources for 10-meter beacon information.

In this article we share a useful and simple project to convert an unneeded car power cable to an Anderson PowerPole adapter.

The article highlights the common absence of modern USB-C ports on handheld ham radios and the limited use of USB for power. The author, [jephthai], shares a solution involving a USB-C cable with power negotiation capabilities, allowing the radio to be powered by USB. By splicing Anderson power pole connectors onto the cable, the radio can now be conveniently powered by a USB battery bank, providing a practical alternative to traditional 12 V batteries for off-grid operations.

In this post, we describe how to make a pigtail cable to connect the Kenwood TH-F6A triband HT to a 12Vdc power source via an Anderson PowerPole connector.

This document outlines the construction of a homebrew Buddipole antenna variant, designed for portable use and emergency services. The antenna utilizes telescoping whips and loading coils, enhancing its versatility across various HF bands. Key components include fiberglass rods, brass fittings, and Anderson Power Pole connectors, ensuring robust electrical connections. The design emphasizes non-inductive materials to minimize interference, while practical assembly techniques, such as epoxy and heat shrink tubing, are employed for durability. This variant aims to improve upon traditional Buddipole designs, offering greater strength and functionality.

The **5-Port 12 Volt DC Power Strip Kit (Rev 4)** offers a practical solution for managing shack power distribution, providing one input and five fused outputs. All connections utilize the ubiquitous Anderson PowerPole connectors, a standard for many amateur radio operators, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe way to power multiple 12 VDC transceivers and accessories from a single source. This design mitigates the common issue of tangled wires and overloaded connections in a typical ham shack. Rated for a maximum current of 20 Amps at 12 VDC, the strip incorporates an integrated LED to indicate when external power is applied. Each output is individually fused, a critical safety feature that protects connected equipment from overcurrent conditions without affecting other devices on the strip. This level of protection is essential for preserving sensitive radio gear during operation. Assembly requires basic soldering skills and hand tools, with a high-power soldering iron and wide chisel tip specifically recommended for best results. The kit's compact dimensions of 4.13" x 1.78" allow for flexible mounting via screw holes, making it suitable for various shack configurations and portable operations.

Early 20th-century transatlantic wireless communication efforts involved distinct technical approaches by Reginald Fessenden and Guglielmo Marconi. Marconi's systems, operational until approximately 1912, primarily utilized _spark technology_ for wireless telegraphy, facilitating Morse code communication between ships and across oceans. His Poldhu station in December 1901 radiated signals in the MF band around 850 kHz, later evolving to 272 kHz in October 1902, and eventually 45 kHz by late 1907 with increasingly larger antenna structures like the pyramidal monopole and capacitive top-loaded arrays. Fessenden, conversely, focused on _continuous wave transmission_ for wireless telephony, recognizing its necessity for speech. His transatlantic experiments in 1906 employed synchronous rotary-spark-gap transmitters and 420-foot umbrella top-loaded antennas at Brant Rock, MA, and Machrihanish, Scotland, tuned to approximately 80 kHz. Fessenden later utilized the _Alexanderson HF alternator_ at 75 kHz by late 1906 for pure CW transmission, integrating a carbon microphone for amplitude modulation. Receiver technology also differed, with Marconi initially relying on untuned coherer-type detectors, later developing the magnetic detector in 1902, while Fessenden's CW approach necessitated more advanced detection methods.
