LOGvrr, a **freeware logging software** developed by IN3VRR, provides amateur radio operators with essential tools for managing their contacts. The resource details various downloadable components, including the core LOGvrr application, an international callbook with approximately 1.8 million callsigns, and utility programs for installation and data conversion. It supports functionalities like logging QSOs, managing awards, and interfacing with PacketCluster systems, with specific instructions for installation on Windows operating systems, including compatibility notes for Windows 10 and 11 using Hyper-V or DOSBOX. The site also offers external tools and documentation, such as the FAQ_VRR.PDF manual which covers installation, printer configuration, ADIF conversion, and Packet setup. It references third-party software like Mercurio and BV QSL Management for QSL printing, and ADIF2QSL for label printing, highlighting LOGvrr's ability to export QSOs in **ADIF format** for integration with services like LoTW. The resource includes historical updates, with the latest core component update in August 2014, and notes on the CallBook's maintenance up to 2015.

Amateur radio operators frequently seek efficient methods for logging contacts, particularly during contests or DXing sessions where speed and accuracy are paramount. MiniLogBook addresses this need by providing a streamlined logging utility designed for Windows environments. The software facilitates rapid entry of QSO data, offering an automated lookup feature for previous contacts based on recent callsigns, which significantly reduces redundant data entry. The application's distinctive utility lies in its integration capabilities with other ham radio software, specifically _MRP40_. Users can select text within the MRP40 receive window and, with a double-click, automatically insert that text into MiniLogBook. This feature is particularly advantageous for operators engaged in digital modes like RTTY or PSK, where copying callsigns and exchange information accurately and quickly is critical. The tool aims to simplify the logging workflow, allowing operators to focus more on the contact itself rather than manual data transcription. While primarily a logging tool, its focus on quick entry and interoperability with specific third-party software distinguishes it from more feature-rich logging suites. The software is distributed as freeware by _Polar Electric_, making it accessible without cost. Its small footprint and direct functionality cater to operators who prefer a minimalist approach to logging, prioritizing efficiency over extensive database management or advanced reporting features.

The **United States Islands (USI) Awards Program** is an amateur radio operating activity centered on activating and chasing islands located within the fifty states of the United States, its territories, and protectorates. These islands encompass coastal shores, lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams, offering a diverse range of operating environments. The program provides numerous achievement awards for both island activators and island chasers, encouraging portable operations and mini-DXpeditions. Participants engage in year-round activities, including the **One-Day-Getaway (1DG)**, a casual portable operation held on the second Saturday of May, and the U.S. Islands QSO Party (IQP), a 15-hour contest occurring on the last full weekend of August. USI encourages hams to discover and operate from islands in their local areas, providing an alternative to traditional Field Day operations for outdoor radio enjoyment. The program supports various operating styles, including portable, walk-on, paddle-to, motor-to, mobile, and drive-on activations. Recent activities include AC1RH activating MA064R Eagle Island daily, aiming for over 100 activations using 600 watts, and KD9ZAB and KD5YZY qualifying MO021R Tower Rock, which is also a POTA US-10147 location. The USI program maintains a clear distinction from the Islands On The Air (IOTA) awards program.

Operating a modern amateur radio station often involves integrating various software tools, and LogHX aims to provide a unified environment for Windows users. The software facilitates comprehensive QSO accounting, allowing operators to track contacts and manage both e-QSL and traditional paper QSL exchanges, including via QSL managers or direct methods. It also offers real-time QSO preview and integrates with popular callbook data for quick lookups. LogHX supports various logbook database searches and maintains statistics for numerous awards, a critical feature for serious DXers and contesters. The program handles logbook import and export in widely used formats such as _ADIF_ and _Cabrillo_, ensuring compatibility with other logging applications. Furthermore, it interoperates with Telnet clusters and third-party ham radio software, enhancing its utility in a networked shack environment. Key functionalities include antenna rotator control, editable macros for PSK, RTTY, CW, and SSB operations, and CAT control via _OmniRig_ or direct interfaces. Embedded modules like MMVari, MMTTY, and CWServer streamline digital mode operations, while its multi-window structure allows users to customize their screen layout, preserving valuable monitor space.

VE1ZAC's analysis details the performance of **MFJ927** and **SGC239** autotuners with portable HF vertical antennas, specifically comparing 31 ft and 43 ft configurations. The resource originated from challenges encountered during a Maritime QSO Party roving operation, necessitating a lightweight and easily deployable antenna system. Target bands for the contest included 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters, with a maximum power handling of 100 W CW. The author utilized a 30-foot carbon fiber push-up pole to support a vertical wire element, noting its 2 lb weight and reliability. EZNEC modeling was employed to predict performance, showing favorable results for a 30-foot vertical with elevated radials, particularly on 40 and 20 meters. Feedpoint impedance measurements, taken with an AIM4170C, are presented for various HF bands, both with and without a 41-foot RG6 stub designed to reduce reactance on 80 and 20 meters. The stub significantly improved matching on these bands, easing the tuner's workload. Operational tests revealed issues with the MFJ927's reliability during contest setup, leading to reliance on the K3's internal tuner. The SGC239, tested post-contest, performed flawlessly. A detailed side-by-side comparison covers mechanical aspects, connection options, power bias, impedance range, board quality, and documentation. Modifications to the MFJ927, including a new aluminum case, white paint for heat reduction, and upgraded impedance-measuring resistors, are also described.

The State QSO Party Challenge is an annual program recognizing amateur radio operators' participation in U.S. State and Canadian Province QSO parties. To qualify for the SQP Challenge, participants must make at least two QSOs in a minimum of two SQP Approved QP contests and submit their scores to 3830Scores.com. The site details the SQP Mobile/Portable Challenge, an overlay competition encouraging mobile/portable operations, with scoring identical to the main SQP Challenge: (Number of QPs entered) x (Number of QSOs) = Score. Eligibility for the Mobile/Portable Challenge requires prior qualification for the SQP Challenge. The website also mentions a State QSO Party Club Challenge and provides contact information for questions. The 2026 SQP Challenge will be dedicated to Stan Zawrotny, K4SBZ, a key team member instrumental in the program's development. Participants are recognized for reaching five levels of achievement: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Scores are calculated by totaling reported contacts and multiplying by the number of SQPs entered year-to-date, encouraging more entries and longer operating times. The Worked All QSO Parties (WAQP) program, sponsored by Icom America, offers certificates for participating in at least 50% of approved contests, with a goal of participating in all. WAQP requires submitting a log with at least two valid contacts to the contest manager, in addition to the 3830scores.com submission.
