open890 is a web-based UI for the Kenwood TS-890S amateur radio, and features good usability, clean design, and high-speed bandscope/audio scope displays, among other features not available either on the radio itself, or in the ARCP remote control software. It is currently only designed to interface with the TS-890 via a LAN (or wifi) connection, and not a USB/serial connection. It may work with the TS-990, as the command set is very similar, but is currently untested.

This software enables remote monitoring of the Kenwood TS-590SG HF transceiver. Based on a lightweight, text-based monitor was developed using Python and ncurses. It connects via rigctld, displaying key metrics like frequency, power, SWR, and TX/RX state with minimal data usage. Ideal for low-bandwidth remote operation, it works over SSH or mobile data. The software is open-source under GPL v3.

This page contains detailed notes on repairing and aligning the Kenwood TS-440S HF radio. The author shares their experience repairing several TS-440S radios, highlighting common issues and repair techniques. The page also discusses parts availability, modifications, and the radio's performance for digital modes like FT8 and JT65. Aimed at ham radio operators interested in repairing and maintaining vintage HF radios, this page provides valuable insights and tips for working on the Kenwood TS-440S.

The author fixed a friend's Kenwood TS-850S radio, which suffered from Capacitor Plague, a common problem in 1990s electronics where capacitors leak and damage circuit boards. The CAR board, responsible for generating signals, was especially affected. The author cleaned the board, replaced the capacitors, and repaired a broken trace. Although the radio mostly functioned afterward, the "Slope Tune" control behaved abnormally. The cause seems to be a software issue, not a hardware one.

This resource details the construction and performance of a compact broadband magnetic loop antenna designed for portable receiving applications with devices like the _ATS MiniRadio_. The antenna utilizes approximately 3 meters of 0.5–1 mm copper wire wound in two turns on a rhomboidal wooden frame, measuring 50 cm by 70 cm. It connects via a modified 9:1 unun, where the primary center tap is isolated from ground to improve common-mode noise rejection. The design provides untuned operation across a frequency range from the longwave band up to approximately 25 MHz. Performance characteristics include observable directivity for noise suppression and the ability to connect directly to a radio or via a 50 coaxial cable for remote operation. The article specifies the unun's 3:1 turns ratio and its SMA output for connectivity. The methodology focuses on practical construction and observed reception quality.

The Kenwood TS-50 is a reliable 25-year-old mobile HF radio, widely used in DX operations but lacking CAT and DATA ports for modern logging or contest software. To overcome this, a custom CW interface was built using an USB to TTL module (FT232/FT232RL) and an optocoupler (e.g., 4N25, H11A1) for galvanic isolation. This setup enables the TS-50 to connect with a computer via USB, facilitating integration with software like LOGGER32 and Win-Test. The interface is cost-effective and driver-free for Windows XP and 7, making it an accessible solution for enhancing the TS-50's functionality.

INTERCOM is a freeware application designed for remote control of KENWOOD TMD700/710/V-71 transceivers, as well as other transceivers equipped with UP, DOWN, and PTT commands. Compatible with Windows XP and higher (32 & 64-bit), INTERCOM offers multilingual support in English and French, and can be used on Linux, Ubuntu, or Android platforms via WINE 1.0 or CROSSOVER. The software enables users to send basic commands—such as selecting TX, VFO, memory channels, or power levels—either through manual inputs or over a TCP/IP link. INTERCOM is tailored for SIMPLEX setups, facilitating the interconnection of VHF/UHF repeaters with nearby repeaters. Remote commands are transmitted using DTMF codes, which are decoded by SIMPLEX and forwarded to INTERCOM via TCP/IP. This functionality makes INTERCOM an ideal tool for radio enthusiasts and operators seeking seamless remote management of supported transceivers in simplex configurations.
