OpsLog is a modern amateur radio logbook application for Windows, designed to consolidate station operations into a single, integrated interface. It provides fast, single-strip QSO entry with automatic lookup from QRZ.com or HamQTH, populating callsign, name, QTH, and grid square. The software offers real-time CAT control supporting OmniRig, native FlexRadio/SmartSDR, Icom CI-V (via USB or internet), and TCI protocols. Key logging features include ADIF 3.1.7 compliance, offline DXCC resolution, a worked-before matrix, and dupe detection. It also incorporates a great-circle map for short/long path calculations and a clickable rotor compass, displaying antenna direction accurately. The application integrates DX cluster functionality with multiple server connections, band map spot display, and customizable alert rules for callsign, country, band, mode, or spotter, delivering notifications via sound, on-screen alerts, and email. OpsLog tracks numerous awards such as DXCC, WAS, WAZ, WAC, WPX, IOTA, POTA, SOTA, WWFF, and DDFM, with synchronization capabilities for ClubLog, LoTW, QRZ.com, and eQSL. For contesting and multi-operator environments, it offers serial number auto-fill, enforced contact windows, live dupe flagging, and shared MySQL logbook support for real-time status updates among operators. Additionally, it includes a QSL card designer with automated layout suggestions.

This blog chronicles over a decade of portable HF contesting from rural Ireland (2008–2019) by Olivier, operating under callsigns EI/ON4EI, EI8GQB, EI1A, and EI7T. Using only green energy from a caravan, he achieved top-tier results in major international contests—including 1st World in the 2018 IARU HF Championship (SSB LP) and multiple 1st-place finishes in CQ WW and CQ WPX SSB Europe. Operating in the demanding Single Operator All Band Low Power and SO2R categories, he deployed up to five antennas across five bands, often in remote or emergency-style conditions. The narrative blends technical detail, fieldcraft, and personal reflection, documenting triumphs, setbacks (including carbon monoxide poisoning), and the logistical challenges of sustainable portable operation—culminating in his decision to transition to team-based contesting and future DXpeditions.

HamStream, a versatile ham radio control software, integrates real-time DX cluster data directly into the operator's workflow, eliminating the need for constant alt-tabbing. As an Extra Class operator, I appreciate how it instantly displays callsign, country, distance, bearing, and QRZ profile data for spotted stations, mirroring the efficiency of a well-organized shack. The software acts as a comprehensive radio controller, reading frequency, mode, and S-meter in real time from connected rigs, supporting CAT via serial, CI-V, _HAMLIB_, and direct connections to _FlexRadio SmartSDR_ and Apache Labs ANAN (via Thetis). Key features include instant QRZ lookups, distance and bearing calculations with a live great-circle minimap, and favorite alerts for specific callsigns. The one-click logging functionality is particularly useful, populating callsign, frequency, and mode into _N1MM+_, Log4OM, DXKeeper, Logger32, StationMaster Pro, and Ham Radio Deluxe via UDP, streamlining contest and casual logging alike. Its smart radio auto-detection for port, baud rate, and model simplifies setup, a welcome relief from manual configuration. Beyond core operating, HamStream also displays 'Also on this frequency' information and can tune the radio to spotted frequencies, enhancing situational awareness. For those who stream their operations, it offers an OBS overlay with live viewer counts and chat integration, making it a compelling tool for modern amateur radio engagement.

QRZ Label is a Windows application designed for amateur radio operators to generate QSL labels using _Zebra (ZPL)_ label printers. It interfaces directly with QRZ.com to retrieve callsign and address details, and can import QSO log data from the QRZ Logbook. The software then formats this information into various label types, including standard address labels, envelope labels, greeting labels, and multi-QSO confirmation cards, all featuring an on-screen tabbed preview. The application supports the creation of QR-code labels, specifically a "QRZ Link" type, which can streamline the QSL process by providing a scannable link to the contact's QRZ.com page. This functionality enhances the traditional QSL card exchange with modern digital convenience. Developed by K7CTV, QRZ Label offers a practical utility for hams managing their QSLing workflow, providing a **free** solution for printing professional-looking labels directly from their station data. The software is distributed as a signed Windows installer.

Hamtrax provides a modern logging solution for amateur radio operators, specifically tailored for _Parks on the Air_ (POTA) activations and hunting. It integrates real-time POTA spots, enabling users to quickly identify and log contacts with active stations. The platform supports organized contact folders, allowing operators to manage their QSOs efficiently, whether for POTA, DX, or repeater operations. The application facilitates comprehensive record-keeping beyond just contact details, incorporating fields for equipment, photos, and field notes. This feature set helps document the full context of each contact, which is particularly useful for activators operating from various park locations. The system also supports _ADIF_ import and export, ensuring interoperability with other logging software and services like _LoTW_ and _QRZ_. Available across web, iOS, and Android, Hamtrax offers a flexible logging experience for hams in the shack or out in the field. The service includes a free tier, with an optional Pro subscription for advanced features.

Spothole aggregates real-time amateur radio spots from various sources, including traditional **DX clusters** and specialized outdoor activity programs like POTA and SOTA. The platform provides a highly customizable web interface where users can configure display options such as DX and DE continents, local time, and a 'ping' notification for new spots. Users can also adjust the number of spots displayed and select from several UI color schemes, including PSK Reporter and Ham Rainbow. The tool integrates with external callbook services like QRZ.com and HamQTH, allowing users to remember login credentials for seamless data reloading. A distinctive feature is the ability to input a personal grid square and manage lists of 'worked' and 'wanted' callsigns. Wanted callsigns, entered as space- or comma-separated lists, receive a gold highlight when a matching DX callsign appears in the spot feed, aiding in targeted DXing efforts. Beyond the interactive web interface, Spothole offers a universal JSON **API**, enabling developers to build custom applications leveraging its aggregated spotting data.
