The "REAL TIME ANTENNA GAIN COMPARATOR SYSTEM" by IK0BDO details a low-budget amateur radio tool designed for optimizing homebrew VHF/UHF antennas. It facilitates the simultaneous comparison of two antennas, one a known reference (e.g., a dipole) and the other under test, displaying their relative gain directly in decibels. The system addresses limitations of previous measurement benches by enabling on-field optimization, accounting for balun performance, impedance mismatching, and cable losses. The core of the device is an electronic solid-state switch utilizing PIN diodes, which alternates signal sampling from the two antennas 100 times per second. This rapid switching prevents the receiver's Automatic Gain Control (AGC) from compensating for signal differences, allowing for precise comparative measurements. The document includes detailed schematic diagrams for both the RF switching unit and the associated measure unit, which employs two VU-meters to display cyclic signal levels. It also provides guidance on setting up the PIN diode switching with an oscilloscope and adjusting trimmer potentiometers P1, P2, and P3 for optimal operation. Further sections cover the construction of VHF (144.150 KHz) and UHF (432.360 MHz) beacons for testing, along with critical considerations for selecting an appropriate test range or site. Recommendations include maintaining a minimum distance of 50 wavelengths between transmitting and receiving positions, avoiding ground reflections, and using reference antennas with gains similar to the antenna under examination. The author notes satisfactory results from measurements on dipoles and other antennas, highlighting the system's ability to appreciate fractional decibel differences.

ToyNTP is a simple freeware time server for Windows that implements the SNTP protocol and uses a GPS receiver, Garmin GPS 18x LVC, as time reference. ToyNTP was designed to be used with Faros in the locations where access to the SNTP servers on the Internet is not available, but it may be used for other purposes as well, in particular, it may be configured to keep the PC clock synchronized to a GPS receiver.

Spotty leverages Philip Gladstone’s pskreporter.info data, delivered via an MQTT broker by Tom Fanning (M0LTE), to offer a responsive web application for visualizing propagation. The Map View presents a default visualization (grid AA00 / callsign MY8CALL) and distinguishes signal types: small spots for signals heard by a location, large spots for transmissions from a location, and teardrop markers for transmissions from the monitored callsign. Clicking a spot reveals detailed signal data in an overlay. The application includes a Log View for raw spot data and a Settings tab for customization. Users can filter tracking by specific Callsign or Grid, with preferences saved to the browser. A notable feature is the Time to Live (TTL) setting, adjustable from the default 60 seconds, which controls spot visibility duration to manage map clutter during high-traffic periods. The tool provides a clear, logic-driven interface for real-time signal monitoring.

Optimizing a QRZ.com page involves adding essential callsign data, ensuring correct _Maidenhead Gridsquare_ and DXCC information in the Detail tab, and populating the Biography section with relevant station details. Operators should include their operating conditions, specific country references like WAB square, club affiliations, and detailed QSL information, specifying preferences for electronic confirmations (e.g., _LoTW_, Clublog) and paper QSLs (direct, bureau, SASE). The guide emphasizes the importance of accurate data for electronic logging software integration, which fetches Gridsquare, DXCC, and CQ/ITU zones to populate contact logs correctly. Further enhancements include leveraging the QRZ.com photo gallery for images and setting a primary image that logging software like _Log4OM_ can display. Advanced customization involves embedding external services via HTML source code. Examples include integrating HamAlert for DX Cluster spots, Clublog for log searches and Online QSL Requesting (OQRS), and Parks on the Air (POTA) statistics widgets from WD4DAN. Additionally, live weather information from Weather&Radar and solar data banners from HamQSL can be embedded, providing real-time environmental context for visitors to the QRZ page. These embedded tools require creating accounts on respective platforms and often involve copying specific source code snippets into the QRZ biography's HTML editor, ensuring callsign placeholders are updated.

Demonstrates the construction of a portable dual-band Yagi antenna, specifically engineered for _full duplex_ satellite communication on the 2-meter and 70-centimeter amateur bands. The design adapts DK7ZB principles, utilizing tape measure elements for rapid deployment and 3D-printed brackets for structural integrity. It details element spacing, lengths, and the integration of a five-turn choke to mitigate common-mode currents, providing a practical solution for hams seeking a lightweight, self-built satellite antenna. The resource presents the antenna's performance characteristics, including a claimed gain of **4.1 dBd** for 2m and **6.2 dBd** for 70cm, achieved with two elements on 2m and three on 70cm. It contrasts this DIY approach with commercial alternatives, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of repurposing materials. The article includes design measurements and an image of the completed antenna, offering a tangible reference for replication.

Demonstrates WSPR propagation activity, presenting observed data by reporter, band, UTC time, local time, and user-selected global destination areas. The application allows users to analyze WSPR spots from a live data server or import saved WSPRnet query files, bypassing the 10,000-row download limit by collecting individual band files for busy bands. Users can configure band preferences and destination modes, choosing between city radius or Maidenhead map grids for filtering path destinations. The interface provides options to start current-day live collection, a 7-day continuous archive, or load previously saved data to build the propagation matrix. Diagnostic information and archive history are accessible, alongside map setup controls for grid contrast and visibility. The tool supports both Path 1 and Path 2 map destinations, enabling detailed analysis of WSPR signal paths.

Outlines the essential steps for successfully activating a **Summits on the Air (SOTA)** peak, providing a structured approach for amateur radio operators participating in this popular award program. It details crucial pre-activation planning, including navigating the SOTA website, setting up a SOTA Data account, and consulting the **Association Reference Manual (ARM)** for specific regional rules and peak information. The guide also covers using mapping resources like adventureradio.de and lists ofjohn.com to identify suitable summits and check access conditions. The document emphasizes safety during the activation, advising operators to monitor weather, carry rain gear, and plan ample time for the ascent and descent. It specifies the **4-QSO minimum** requirement within the Activation Zone and recommends calling "CQ SOTA" on traditional QRP or VHF calling frequencies. The guide also suggests using local 2m FM repeaters for safety communications and spotting, while clarifying that repeater QSOs do not count for SOTA points. Post-activation activities include submitting logs to sotadata.org.uk, uploading trip reports to share experiences with future activators, and promoting SOTA participation on various reflectors. The guide highlights the program's appeal through its awards system for both activators and chasers, encouraging new participants in North America.
