List of Worldwide HF Beacons published by RSGB. The beacon service is a vital part of amateur radio propagation knowledge. Updates to the HF list, which is is a heavily edit form of the G3USF list, are continued by the current committee. It now only contains beacons that are known to be active and have been heard recently.

The weather station described here uses a TTGO v3 1.6.2 module and various sensors. It displays the data on an OLED screen and transmits them among a choice of protocols to the APRS, APRS-IS, Wunderground servers or via an MQTT broker. APRS data is transmitted on 433.775 MHz (can be changed) using the LoRa protocol. APRS beacons picked up by iGate gateways are then transmitted to APRS servers.

The HF Beacon Tracker is an advanced interactive tool designed for DXers and ham radio opoerators in general to monitor active beacons operating below 14 MHz. Built upon a high-fidelity 3D Earth globe, the application provides a spatial perspective on signal paths by integrating real-time environmental data with a comprehensive beacon database curated by Mirek OK1DUB. Beacons are plotted using precise Maidenhead locators and feature a real-time day/night terminator overlay to help operators identify Gray Line propagation opportunities. With a single click, users can calculate the exact distance from their own QTH to any beacon, visualized via an animated Great-Circle Path arc on the globe surface. To enhance its diagnostic capabilities, the tool seamlessly integrates with PSK Reporter, allowing users to right-click CW beacons to instantly fetch current reception reports and signal strength data. The interface is fully optimized with a mobile-responsive design, smooth globe rotation, and togglable Dark/Light themes suitable for any shack environment. Whether you are performing antenna gain tests, conducting ionospheric research, or simply hunting for band openings, the HF Beacon Tracker transforms raw database information into an intuitive, visual diagnostic suite. It serves as an essential asset for any operator looking to master HF band conditions.

A data converter for the Tandy WM918 weather station. The Weather APRS data converter project aims to create an interface to interpret data from the popular Tandy WM918 weather station and format it for transmission over packet radio. The South East Radio Group in South Australia has established a network of these weather stations to provide amateurs with regularly updated weather data. However, the WM918's data output is not structured for APRS weather reporting. This project describes a solution using a PIC microcontroller to convert the WM918 data into APRS-compatible strings that can be sent as beacons or connected packets. The interface offers features like position/positionless data, connected/beacon modes, and metric/imperial units. The goal is to create an interconnected weather reporting system for amateur radio operators

This page offers the latest version of SIMPLEX, a freeware program designed for hams to create and manage radio repeaters. Compatible with Windows XP and higher, in 32 & 64-bits, SIMPLEX supports English and French languages. Linux/Ubuntu/Android users can use WINE 1.0 or CROSSOVER to run the program. SIMPLEX allows the creation of simplex, duplex, transponder, and mixed repeaters, with features like survey functions and time/weather beacons. The package includes a DTMF encoder for testing codes. Suitable for ham radio operators looking to set up and manage their repeater systems.

John Lemay’s (G4ZTR) review of the Yaesu FT-847 offers a practical look at this all-mode transceiver, spanning 160m to 70cm, including 4m. While it falls short in dynamic range and sensitivity, its "shack-in-a-box" design shines for VHF DXing and multi-band use. Lemay shares hands-on tweaks, like calibrating 70cm with beacons and integrating footswitches for SSB and CW. The TX Inhibit feature simplifies sequencing with external gear. Despite minor flaws, the FT-847’s versatility and mod-friendly nature make it a solid pick for amateur radio enthusiasts craving flexibility.

The project aims to create a remote control system for the VK5RSE beacons located near Millicent, South Australia. The beacons on 144.550, 432.550, and 1296.550 MHz can interfere with nearby amateur radio operations, particularly for EME work on 1296 MHz. The remote control system uses a DTMF decoder and PIC microcontroller to allow turning the beacons on and off individually or in combination. The system is housed in a diecast box and powered from 5-8V. The password-protected control allows authorized users to manage the beacon operations remotely, helping mitigate interference issues for local amateurs.

Emergency Radio Long Island (ERLI) in Bellmore, NY, provides amateur radio emergency communication training and operations. Services include POCSAG/DAPNET paging, APRS iGate/Digipeater/weather station, and an APRS Text Net for emergency notifications. ERLI supports multiple digital and RF modes, hosts weekly nets, and rebroadcasts weather, safety, and public alerts. Resources cover SkyWarn, AUXCOMM, FEMA, and digital radio tools. Pagers operate on 439.9875 MHz with specific rubrics for alerts. APRS messages, bulletins, and beacons help coordinate emergency response among licensed amateur radio operators, maintaining readiness for regional emergencies and severe weather events.
