Since January 1, 1982, 1A contacts have been eligible for **DXCC** credit, making the prefix highly sought after by the amateur radio community for over 41 years. The 1A0C station, operated by the Order of Malta's Italian Relief Corps (CISOM), engages in DXpedition activities with a dual purpose beyond simply providing a rare "new one" for DXers. For instance, the July 26 - August 2, 2023, operation specifically channeled received donations towards reconstruction efforts for flood victims in Romagna, aligning with CISOM's humanitarian mission. The site outlines CISOM's broader scope, which includes impartial humanitarian relief, medical assistance, and emergency support for natural disaster victims, emphasizing respect for diverse beliefs. This approach integrates high-profile amateur radio operations with significant charitable outcomes.

A simple 2-tone-generator for testing the linearity of SSB transmitters. This device is as simple as useful. With 2 transistors and an oscilloscope, it is fairly easy to test the linearity of your SSB transmitter. The 2-tone-method is a standardized test method that can be used to determine the maximum output and the amplification characteristics of a sideband transmitter.

open890 is a web-based UI for the Kenwood TS-890S amateur radio, and features good usability, clean design, and high-speed bandscope/audio scope displays, among other features not available either on the radio itself, or in the ARCP remote control software. It is currently only designed to interface with the TS-890 via a LAN (or wifi) connection, and not a USB/serial connection. It may work with the TS-990, as the command set is very similar, but is currently untested.

An FT-817 ceased transmission on the VHF 2m band, despite the other HF, UHF, and 50 MHz bands operating correctly. Suspecting an excess of input signal during FT-8 mode transmission, they conducted measurements with an oscilloscope, revealing a burnt-out PIN diode, identified as D3003, type HSU277, on the PA unit board. Following the replacement of this surface-mounted diode, their FT-817 resumed operation on the 144 MHz band.
