Homemade receiver for 80 meters band. The receiver works very well (in fact better than some of its successors), especially the AGC makes listening to 80m QSOs a real pleasure. Sensitivity is not cutting-edge, but on a full-size short-wave antenna it is by fare sensitive enough.

This transmitter covers the 160, 80, 40 and 20 metre bands and provides both SSB and properly generated CW. The CW side of this transmitter is not compromised and produces excellent CW. On SSB the audio has been tailored to provide a rising response to 3 KHz, with a sharp drop above that frequency. There is RF speech clipping to both provide more "punch" and to limit the peak output.

This project revisits a minimalist software-defined radio (SDR) receiver built using a Raspberry Pi Pico, now optimized for simplicity and affordability. Designed for breadboard assembly with through-hole components, the receiver covers 0–30MHz, supporting CW, SSB, AM, and FM modes with an OLED display and spectrum scope. Key improvements include enhanced frequency accuracy, reduced op-amp saturation, and lower-cost components. Powered by three AAA batteries, it delivers standalone operation for global signal reception. Ideal for hobbyists, the design fosters experimentation and is documented with firmware and schematics available online.

A simple 2-tone-generator for testing the linearity of SSB transmitters. This device is as simple as useful. With 2 transistors and an oscilloscope, it is fairly easy to test the linearity of your SSB transmitter. The 2-tone-method is a standardized test method that can be used to determine the maximum output and the amplification characteristics of a sideband transmitter.

A simple superheterodyne receiver (3.5–30 MHz) for amateur radio achieves stable SSB-CW reception using modern BJTs, an AD831 mixer, a 6-pole quartz filter, and Seiler oscillators. Designed with high IF (4.5 MHz), compact AM-FM variable capacitors, and modular resonant circuits, it ensures selectivity, image rejection, and stable tuning. Built in a copper-lined wooden case, it features practical assembly techniques but lacks advanced features like AGC or S-meter. Effective on basic antennas, it achieves global reception.

The MiniPA Linear Amplifier for HF page discusses the popularity of QRP for HF among ham radio operators, such as those using the Yaesu FT818 or low power SDR transceivers. It explores the use of cheap kits from eBay or Chinese suppliers to build a 70-100W SSB amplifier using IRF530 MOSFET transistors. The article provides a review of the MiniPA design, including its features, components, and assembly process. It also highlights the importance of using a heatsink and forced air cooling for optimal performance. This page is useful for hams looking to enhance their HF rig with a budget-friendly amplifier.

This Satellite Antenna Elevation System project involves mounting horizontally polarized Yagi antennas on a fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) crossboom. A Yaesu G-800DXA azimuth rotator is in place, requiring only an elevation rotation system. Elevation is controlled by a 12VDC linear actuator connected to a U-bolted arm on the crossboom, rotating within a DIY bearing arrangement. Common handyman tools suffice for assembly. The setup includes FRP crossboom, aluminum tubing, PVC couplers, nylon camshaft bushes, and a K3NG-based controller for azimuth and elevation control. Detailed guides and resources are available online.

This PDF article introduces a series of dual-tuned bandpass filters designed for input tuning in amateur band receivers. Developed by Stefen Niewiadomski, these filters feature 50-ohm input/output impedance and can be cascaded for improved roll-off outside the passband. The designs use readily available TOKO coils, with taps on the tuned winding for matching input circuits with impedances around 1k ohm. The inductors are core-tuned, with average inductance values provided for easier matching to other inductors.
