NAVTEX, or Navigational Telex, is an international automated direct-printing service for broadcasting maritime navigational and meteorological warnings, as well as urgent safety information to ships. Hams often monitor these transmissions on specific longwave and mediumwave frequencies, using their receivers to pick up these important safety-at-sea messages. While primarily a marine service, the signals offer an interesting challenge for operators keen on digital modes and signal decoding.

This category provides various software tools for decoding NAVTEX signals. Operators can find PC-based NAVTEX decoders like MeteoFax32 and SeaTTY, which use a computer's sound card to process the audio from a radio receiver. There are also mobile solutions, such as DroidNavtex, allowing decoding on Android devices. Beyond NAVTEX, some programs like RadioRaft and DSCdecoder offer broader capabilities for decoding other maritime digital modes, including RTTY, CW, and DSC signals from coast stations and ships.
